Spiced Pear Porridge



Ingredients - For 2 bowls



  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats 

  • 2 cups (475ml) water

  • 0.5 cups (118ml) almond milk 

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds 

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 


Spiced Poached Pear:

  • 2 pears, pealed and dec-cored  

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric 

  • 1 knob fresh ginger, roughly sliced

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 


Toppings (Optional):

  • Almond butter

  • Cinnamon 

  • Vegan Yoghurt 


  1. Add the oats and water to a pot and bring to the boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium low and add your milk, chia seeds and vanilla extract, stirring constantly.

  2. Cook the oats for approx. 5 minutes until your desired consistency is reached. Adding more milk if needed. 

  3. Meanwhile, in a seperate pot bring the water to boil. Once boiling reduce the heat to a medium-high heat and add your pealed pears, turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. Cook the pears for 5-10 minutes (or until soft). Take out and slice. 

  4. To assemble distribute the oats between two bowls. Sprinkle with cinnamon and add 1/2 tbsp of almond butter (optional). Top with your sliced poached pears and enjoy with a coffee!

Note: To de-core your pears using a teaspoon go from the bottom of the pear and gently scoop out a small half circle in the middle of the pears. This is where the seeds are.
