Garlic Naan

INGREDIENTS:
For 4-6 servings
-
2 cups All Purpose Flour
-
1 cup Yogurt
-
1 tbsp baking powder
-
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
-
1 teaspoon Salt
Garlic Butter (to brush on the Naan):
-
4 cloves garlic minces
-
1tbsp melted vegan butter or oil
-
sprinkle of salt
-
2-3 tbsp finely chopped coriander
DIRECTIONS:
-
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir to combine well. Create a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and then add your yoghurt.
-
Begin to mix the yoghurt and dry ingredients together using your fingertips. Gradually start to bring the two together and make a ball.
-
Once the dough roughly comes together in the bowl, lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough for 7-10 minutes by hand, adding more flour where necessary to stop the dough from sticking to the bench top.
-
Once the dough is smooth, place it in an oiled bowl and cover with a damp kitchen towel. Let rest for at least 30 minutes (note: I like to leave mine for about an hour.
-
Meanwhile, place your minced garlic and finely chopped coriander in a small bowl and mix until well combined.
-
Once your dough has rested, take it out of the bowl and cut it into 6 pieces and roll each piece into a small ball. Take one ball (leaving the other balls in the bowl covered - to stop them from drying out) and using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 0.5cm thickness without applying too much force.
-
Once the naan is the desired shape brush one side with the garlic/coriander mixture and heat a pan on a medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot place the naan bread down it in and cook for 1-2 minutes each side. Flip once the naan starts to create air bubbles and is slightly charring.
-
Once the naan is done I like to brush with some melted butter and sprinkle some sea salt!
